Community Donation Drive at The Ambler Area YMCA!

July 29, 2013

The Ambler Area YMCAand Impact Thrift Stores are teaming up to help you get your world in shape.

The entire month of August, 2013, YMCA members are encouraged to de-clutter their homes and drop off donations of gently-used clothing, shoes, books and small electronics in the lobby of the 1325 McKean Road Y location.

This collaborative community event was inspired by the fact that both organizations share like-minded missions to improve local communities. The YMCA’s mission is to strengthen communities by working side by side with neighboring organizations, so that everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive…not just through physical fitness, but also by fostering a sense of social responsibility. Their mission is reflected back by Impact Thrifts’ own spirit of generosity. Through the operations of their 4 stores, located in Hatboro, Montgomeryville, Feasterville and Norristown, Impact Thrift financially supports a variety of locally-based charities whose missions support families and children in crisis.

The collection drive will serve as a way for Impact Thrift to obtain quality donations to further its own service to the community. All of the donated items will either be sold at Impact Thrift Stores or responsibly recycled, and the net proceeds will financially support 16 charities in Montgomery and Bucks County, such as Ambler’s own Inter Faith Housing Alliance. To date, Impact Thrifts’ financial support has surpassed $1.8 million dollars. “We are actually really looking forward to this partnership,” says Jaime Boris, the Y’s Marketing Director. “Anytime we put a call out to our members that there is a need in the community they respond well beyond what we ever expected.” According to Tamika Miller, Impact Thrift’s Community Outreach Coordinator, “The goal of Impact Thrift is to continue to support charities and make a difference in the community. With the help of supporters, such as The Ambler YMCA, we have seen many lives changed for the better. This partnership is the perfect illustration of the community coming together for the greater good.”

If you’re in the area, stop by and drop off a bag of gently-used clothing, shoes, books and electronics. Impact Thrift will turn your donated merchandise into cash for local charities… donors benefit, shoppers benefit, and the charities they support certainly benefit.
